Opal-RT is currently seeking an engineer specialized in the real-time simulation of electromechanical systems. The position is based in the company’s Montreal headquarters. The ideal candidate must be able to work autonomously in a multidisciplinary environment, and will know how to translate his/her imagination into reality.

Job Description:

• Perform feasibility studies of simulators.
• Modeling of various electromechanical, power electronic and electrical networks for turnkey simulators.
• Participate in research and development activities.
• Perform sales and marketing support by composing scientific articles, attending scientific symposia, and editing marketing documents.
• Perform technology watch and develop/maintain a strong network of contacts in the field.
• Collaborate with technical support as a simulation expert.
• Provide expertise during product commissioning.
• Conduct technical training of clients.
• Participate in creation of technical reports.

Education and Experience:

• Masters or Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering or Bachelor degree in electrical engineering with equivalent experience.
• Electromechanical, power electronics and electrical systems modeling experience.
• Knowledge of EMTP and Matlab/Simulink/SimPowerSystems electrical systems simulation software.
• Knowledge of related software applications is an asset.
• Scientific articles (ex. : IEEE) and technical report writing experience .
• Applied experience in “DSP” or “FPGA” controls design is an asset.
• Applied experience in power electronics systems design is an asset.
• Hardware-in-the-loop real-time simulation experience is an asset.

Candidate Profile :

• Fluency in English and French, both written and spoken, is an absolute requirement. Knowledge of other languages is an asset.
