RT-XSG Installation and Windows 7 64-bit

Can I use RT-XSG on a host running Windows7 64-bits?

The latest version of the System Generator for DSP toolbox is v12.1, and it is supported by RT-XSG from v2.0_b2.

Xilinx ISE Suite v12.1 officially does NOT support Windows7 (nor does v11.x, v10.1.x). Depending on your configuration, you could still use this version. The following software installation is recommended:
* Matlab R2009b
* Xilinx ISE Suite v12.1 (System Edition or DSP Edition)
* RT-LAB v10.0.3 or later
* RT-XSG v2.0_b2 or later

For the Xilinx ISE setup the following procedure has to be followed CAREFULLY:

1) Do not run the default installer for the setup. Instead, once the .zip file is uncompressed, run as an administrator (from the context menu) <Xilinx installer folder>\bin\nt\xsetup.exe. This will install only the 32-bit version of ISE (by default, both 32-bit and 64-bit versions are installed). The System Generator toolbox has problems when both versions are installed on a 64-bit computer. At the end of the installation, you will get a window with the Windows environment variables that "have been set". Do not close this window.

2) The installer will probably have failed in setting these environment variables, sou you have to set them manually. Add the following variables:
a) XIL_SCRIPT_LOC=<Xilinxfolder>, e.g. C:\Xilinx\12.1\ISE_DS
b) All the ones that are indicated in the window you have not closed at the end of the installation. If you have inadvertently closed the window, see the attachment.
c) DSP_CACHE_DIR=C:\temp\sysgen_cache (see http://www.xilinx.com/support/answers/35531.htm)

Also, remember that for all Xilinx version, the Matlab installation path must not include any space. The Xilinx softwares will presumably support Windows 7 from version 13.x (probably 2nd quarter of 2011?). For any system that is Windows-XP-compatible, I would still recommend the combination Windows XP - Xilinx v10.1.03 - Matlab r2008a.
