RT-LAB, InfiniBand, PCI Express and FPGA Reconfigurable I/O bring Automotive HIL Systems to a New Age
At SAE World Congress in Detroit this month Opal-RT introduced the new support for InfiniBand, a switched fabric based computer interconnection positioned to become the next generation inter-computer communication systems. This extremely high-speed and flexible communication system takes advantage of PCI-X and the new PCI Express technologies to minimize the communication latency between the main processor memory and the communication fabric.

RT-LAB Pentium M-Based Real-Time Simulator for Embedded Systems Development
While exhibiting at the RTS Embedded show in Paris, France with B2i (Opal-RT France distributor) at the beginning of this month, Opal-RT announced a new range of small but powerful Pentium-M-based RT-LAB real-time simulators for rapid control prototyping and Hardware-in-the-loop capable of simulating the IGBT switches of motor drives systems with PWM carrier frequency of up to 10 kHz. The new instruction set of the Pentium-M processor and its large on-chip cache memory make it ideal for the simulation of fast dynamic systems, while maintaining a power draw of less than 20 watts.
