RT-LAB 8 released

RT-LABVersion 8 of RT-LAB software from Opal-RT Technologies is now available. RT-LAB software now has even more features to improve how you work with model-based design. New features include:

  • Support for RedHawk Linux 4.1
  • A macro recorder to record user commands and create Python scripts automatically
  • Support for Simulink buses between RT-LAB subsystems
  • Support for Simulink models without RT-LAB subsystem creation (In this case, the model is compiled as a single computation node with one acquisition group in the console.)
  • XHP mode setting in the "Assign node" dialog box – the model no longer needs to be compiled to change this setting.
  • Call to external Python scripts during compilation, load, and reset of a model. Script can be called on command station and target(s).
  • API improvements, including:
    • The use of Simulink names for "Set" and "Get" functions
    • Support for the aliasing of those Simulink names
    • A new function to read the latest value of any signal
    • A new API help file

RT-LAB makes model-based calibration of ECUs a reality

TU BerlinCurrent developments in engine and transmission technologies are being shaped by stringent emissions standards, and the customer's demand for improved fuel economy and vehicle comfort. This has led to the constantly increasing complexity of vehicle control systems.

Optimal consumption, emission, and comfort can be best achieved when the entire drive train – including the engine, clutch, transmission, and vehicle dynamics – are calibrated together with engine control systems.

The IAV GmbH Berlin in cooperation with the Department of Electronic Measurement and Diagnostic Technology at the Technische Universität Berlin (Berlin Technical University) carries out project and research work focused on testing the entire drive train on a highly dynamic engine test-bench. The test-bench consists of equipment for controlling the combustion engine, a dynamic electric dynamometer, and measuring devices for exhaust-gas emissions and fuel consumption. An RT-LAB™ hardware in-the-loop (HIL) simulator from Opal-RT Technologies simulates the transmission and the rest of the vehicle.
