NewsOpal-RT Announces Real Time 2008 - 1st Annual Opal-RT International Users Conference Opal-RT will be hosting “Real-Time 2008” - the 1st Annual Opal-RT International Users Conference, on Thursday June 12th and Friday June 13th in Québec City, Québec. The objective of “Real-Time 2008” is to provide a forum that brings together Opal-RT management and development teams, international distributors, technology partners, and key Opal-RT customers from around the world, to discuss the unique and innovative applications of Opal-RT’s industry leading real-time simulation, rapid control prototyping, and testing products. We invite you to come to Quebec City to learn about the ways that Opal-RT products are being used in the lab, on the testbench, and in the field. “Real-Time 2008” will take place during the two days immediately following Electrimacs 2008 (www.electrimacs2008.org), providing an excellent opportunity for attendees to also participate in one of the most important technical events in the power and power electronics industry. In addition, Québec City is celebrating its 400th anniversary in 2008, offering an amazing chance to take part in celebrations that are occurring in the city throughout the year. Opal-RT customers, distributors, and technology partners, as well as university professors and researchers using Opal-RT products are invited sponsor and present at “Real-Time 2008”. Opal-RT Announces Global Availability of eMEGAsim Real-Time Power Grid Simulator
Originally demonstrated in mid-2007, eMEGAsim is a fully digital real-time power grid simulator for the study, test, and simulation of large in-land power grids, industrial power systems, commercial and military ships, and electrical train traction systems and feeding networks. eMEGAsim is designed to meet the real-time simulation and testing needs of engineers and researchers across the power generation industry, from university researchers studying renewable energy sources to electrical utilities seeking ways to manage an increasingly diverse range of power generation and distribution systems. eMEGAsim is integrated with Simulink/SimPowerSystems from The MathWorks Inc. and with the popular EMTP-RV off-line simulation and transient analysis platform. This integration means that existing SimPowerSystems and EMTP-RV power system models can be simulated in real-time with extreme accuracy, saving the engineer valuable time, and eliminating the need to migrate to an unfamiliar power system modeling environment simply to conduct real-time simulation. Opal-RT Technologies Introduces HILBOX Fx - FPGA Accelerator for xPC Target
HILBOX Fx is an FPGA processor-based solution that integrates industrial computer systems using xPC Target from The MathWorks Inc. xPC Target provides a high-performance, host-target prototyping environment that enables the connection of Simulink and Stateflow models to physical systems and subsequent execution in real time on PC-compatible hardware. xPC Target includes proven capabilities for rapid prototyping and hardware-in-the-loop simulation of control systems. xPC Target enables the engineer to add I/O interface blocks to models, automatically generate code with Real-Time Workshop and Stateflow Coder, and download the code to a second PC running the xPC Target real-time kernel. HILBOX Fx uses an FPGA-based interface to connect directly to DIO and fast 16-bit analog converter and signal conditioning modules. High speed FPGA-based IO can be controlled directly by SIMULINK models running between 120 and 150 microseconds on a standard PC processor. Complex models and signal processing functions can also be developed with SIMULINK and a XILINX System Generator and downloaded to an FPGA processor to execute models with time steps below 500 nanoseconds. A rich library of IO functions and power electronic drive with PMSM motor models will be available for HILBOX Fx users in the first half of 2008. Opal-RT Events in 2008Over the course of the year, Opal-RT participates in a variety of industry events where members of Opal-RT’s management team conduct demonstrations and present technical papers focused on Opal-RT's Real-Time Simulation, Rapid Control Prototyping, ECU Testing, and Hardware-in-the-Loop products and services. Shows attended focus on a range of industries including Aerospace, Automotive, Power Generation, Power Electronics, and Industrial.
