How to delete the Metacontroller.state and the Hardware.config

During a troubleshooting event, it could be asked to delete the metacontroller.state and the Hardware.config

1- Delete the metacontroller.state

The metacontroller.state is a file that saves some information regarding the RT-LAB workspace. It could happen that the workspace of RT-LAB get corrupted and that explains why we need to delete this file.

The metacontroller.state can be found in: C:\ProgramData\OPAL-RT\RT-LAB\v11.X.X.XXX. For versions of RT-LAB 10.X.X.XXX this file can be found here: C:\OPAL-RT\RT-LAB\v10.X.X.XXX\common\bin

Note that the ProgramData folder in a hidden file in Windows. 

For windows 8 and 10 : This option is easily accessible in the File Explorer:

 


For Windows 7, Click the "Organize" button on Windows Explorer's toolbar and select "Folder and search options" to open it. Click the "View2 tab at the top of the Folder Options window. Select "Show hidden files, folder and drives" under Hidden files and folders. Click "OK" to save the new setting.



2- Delete the Hardware.config

The Hardware.config file holds the information regarding the target list you enter in RT-LAB. It could happen that this list can be corrupted and that explains why we need to delete this file.

The Hardware.config file can be found here: C:\ProgramData\OPAL-RT\RT-LAB\v11.X.X.XXX\Config. For versions of RT-LAB 10.X.X.XXX this file can be found here: C:\OPAL-RT\RT-LAB\v10.X.X.XXX\common\bin
