Problem & Solution
HYPERSIM : Error - Clock change detected

Problem

When I restarted my Simulator I am not able to load my HYPERSIM model anymore. An error related to the licence shows up.

And if I tried to restart some HYPERSIM services on my Target Simulator by logging in SSH I got :

[root@RTServer~]# service hy.server start

hy.server start ...

[...]

HypersimLicenseManager --- Error: 'Clock change detected (1)!'

Using license file: [No valid license found!]

HypersimLicenseManager --- Error: 'Clock change detected (1)!'

Solution

The date & time of your simulator have been altered and need to be restored. This skew on the clock may be caused by a depleted CMOS Battery on the Motherboard on old simulators (3 volt CR2032 model).

A) Correct the date on your simulator

Log into your system through SSH connection and use the command : 'date -s' followed by the format or standard nomenclature of the function.

We recommend: date -s '20YY-MM-DD HH:mm:ss'

For more information you can type 'date --h' to access the help of the function.

Another way would be connecting a mouse, keyboard & screen on your simulator and access the graphical interface :

Select Applications > System Tools > Settings > Date & Time and synchronize your simulator clock if you can or change it manually if your simulator is not connected to internet.

Once it's done. Try to restart the hy.server service again :

[root@RTServer~]# service hy.server start

If the issue persist, please contact OPAL-RT Technical Support

B) Replace the CMOS Battery on the Motherboard (3 volt CR2032 model)

Now that you have confirmed this solved your issue by setting the proper date and time you will need to ensure this won't happen again when you restart your simulator.

As explained above this might be caused by the depleted CMOS Battery (3 volt CR2032 model) that ensure a minimal function of the Motherboard when there is no power (including running the clock and time). You will need to replace this battery into the simulator. If you simulator is still under Hardware Maintenance please contact OPAL-RT Technical Support  to get the authorization form to open your simulator.
