Job description:

OPAL-RT is seeking a highly motivated technical sales professional to be a part of the company’s success. The chosen candidate will report to the director – business development and marketing and have a primary responsibility to achieve ambitious business development targets in an assigned territory within the DACH region. Specifically, the job will involve growing existing customer relationships, identifying new opportunities to maintain a strong sales pipeline, communicating the value of OPAL-RT’s solutions to very technical customers, negotiating sales contracts and ensuring that deals are closed in a timely and effective manner. In addition, the TSE will provide input for strategic marketing plans and be a key part of marketing activities including making presentations, attending tradeshows and running demonstrations.

Candidates must have excellent German and English communication skills, be organized and be able to work autonomously as well as within a dynamic team. A functional knowledge of French is an added asset.

This is an ideal job for someone with initiative who is seeking a challenge and there will be many opportunities for growth within this new, expanding subsidiary. The sales cycles for this business are in the order of 6 – 18 months requiring patience, persistence and the ability to appropriately assign priorities over an extended period.

This job offers flexibility, the opportunity to develop both business and technical skills through customer-contact, and involves working on exciting projects in several areas including renewable energy systems, the smart grid and electric vehicles.

 

Main duties:

  • Promoting OPAL-RT products (manage sales cycles);
  • Prospecting and business development to ensure a healthy pipeline over long sales cycles;
  • Actively pursuing new business opportunities;
  • Following up with existing customers, while maintaining the highest quality relationship;
  • Understanding the customers’ challenges and goals to provide the appropriate solution in collaboration with technical experts;
  • Participating in product demonstrations and other marketing activities (like conferences or trade shows);
  • Providing customer feedback and input on improving business development effectiveness;
  • Providing input for product features and improvement based on customer experience.
  • Providing offers and negotiating customer contracts;
  • Following-up on deliveries of received orders to assure customer satisfaction;

 

Requirements:

  • Education: Technical background - electronics, power electronics and / or electrical engineering, automatic, mechatronics, computational engineering or industrial engineering (degree: good technician, Bachelor, Diploma or Master, ideally complemented by business studies
  • Experience: 3- 10 years’ working experience including technical sales and business development;
  • Required knowledge: Knowledge of high tech industry, engineering and optional ly,real-time simulation ;
  • Basic knowledge of the following tools:, MS Office, Microsoft CRM, some knowledge of MATLAB/Simulink would be a definite plus;
  • Language skills: Excellent written and spoken German and English, fluent in French (optional);
  • Skills sought: Results-driven, excellent interpersonal skills, adaptable, organized, autonomous, persistence, thoroughness, determination and passion for achieving customer satisfaction;
  • Travel: Extensive travelling for customer visits or trade shows predominantly in the DACH region but also Europe-wide and with visits to headquarters in Montréal, Canada on occasion.
