Real Time Simulation of a Power Plant Auxiliary System with eMEGAsim
In a thermal power plant, part of electricity produced is consumed by the power plant’s auxiliary system. Typically, an auxiliary system includes components such as pumps, fans and soot blowers, most of which are driven by motors. To minimize consumption of electricity by the auxiliary system, thereby ensuring maximum output to the external power network, an optimized operation mode of the auxiliary system is proposed.
The optimized control strategy is implemented in DCS (Distributed Control System).
Real-Time Simulation of the power plant’s auxiliary system is conducted with RT-LAB to test and verify the optimized control strategy with physical Hardware-In-Loop. In the simulation, a synchronized machine (generator), transformer and breaker for auxiliary system and motors are modeled.
