  • Performing I/O connections are now fully handled through OPAL-RT DASHBOARDS offering a better user experience through a centralized interface.
    Don’t worry, migrating your project’s existing I/O connections to the new interface is automatically insured.

  • Added support for multiple OPAL-RT Board instances with eHS in the same project.

This is the Long Term Support (LTS) version of RT-LAB for older hardware platforms. You must use this version if your hardware platform is an OP4510v2 or part of the OP5000 (not XG) Series. These older systems run the Red Hat Linux or OPAL-RTLinux 32-bit legacy operating systems.

RT-LAB 2024.4 LTS

This is the Long Term Support (LTS) version of RT-LAB supporting the edition of existing panels created in Dynamic LabVIEW® Panels. Starting with version 2025.1, OPAL-RT Dashboards are the replacement feature.

HYPERSIM Software

HYPERSIM is an extensively field-tested simulation software platform for both power systems and power electronics, enabling the most demanding utilities, manufacturers and research centers to run faster, more realistic tests in order to meet the rapidly evolving requirements of the energy sector.

Compatible hardware platforms: all platforms using OPAL-RTLinux 64-bit operating system, i.e. OP4512 and all hardware of the OP4000XG and OP5000XG Series.

New features and improvements

  • Combine the scale of PDT models with the additional precision of EMT models using the new multi-rate co-simulation ePHASORSIM interface component.
  • A new FPGA-Based Dual Active Bridge (DAB) example model has been added to demonstrate the high switching frequency attainable using the eHS solver.
  • Multiple FPGA-Based Circuit components can now be added into the same HYPERSIM circuit.
  • A new Half-Line component has been added, allowing the decoupling of two discretized systems using an inductor.

The OPAL-RT Power Electronics Add-On (eHS) for NI VeriStand is a powerful FPGA-based simulation tool for Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing of controllers for power electronics and electric transportation applications. It combines the performance of several leading floating-point FPGA solvers developed by OPAL-RT with an intuitive workflow integrated directly within the NI VeriStand software suite to create a scalable and flexible HIL test bench.   • The OPAL-RT Power Electronics Add-On (eHS) for VeriStand, a powerful floating-point solver that enables users to simulate electric circuits on FPGA simply and without having to write any code or mathematical equations
  • High fidelity FPGA models of machines and sensors including integration of Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tables
  • Sub-microsecond simulation time-steps
  • Create and automate scenario test cases with on-the-fly changes to the FPGA model
  • Simple and intuitive user interfaces (UIs) for connecting the electrical model inputs and outputs to high speed Input/Output (IO) to create an interface between the simulated model and a real Device Under Test (DUT)
  • Signal generation engines (sinewave, pwm, sinewave PWM) built directly into the FPGA design to generate control signals for open and/or closed loop testing
  • Compatibility with the NI VeriStand ecosystem which includes support for automotive communication protocols (CAN, XNET, FlexRay), data acquisition hardware (DAQ), simulation models, procedures, signal conditioning via SLSC, and more.

The OPAL-RT Cell Monitoring Device Emulation (CMDE) Add-On for NI VeriStand is a powerful FPGA-based simulation tool for Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing of modern Battery Management Systems (BMS) used in power electronics applications. This tool facilitates rapid testing and validation of BMS by emulating battery cells and BMS chipset register commands using isoSPITM technology, while maintaining the integrity of the SPI communication daisy-chain.
