Panel 5: Modelling and Simulation and digital twin of future net zero power system.

Date & Hour : Thursday, 2 October 2025 | 11:15-12:30
Panellist : Ravinder Venugopal
Moderator: Jay Ramachandran, NESO

Abstract : As the energy transition accelerates towards the zero-carbon operations, the integration of Inverter Based Resources (IBR), Distributed Energy Resources (DER) and converter-based large loads is increasing within the power system. This shift presents new challenges in power system operations compared to conventional power system with more synchronous generation plants. Consequently, traditional methods of modelling and analysis may no longer be adequate for evaluating future power system operations. This panel will delve into various modelling and simulation techniques required to analyse the future power system to ensure safe, reliable and economical system operations. This panel also will explore the capabilities of digital twin tool for design, planning and operational analysis. This panel will explore the different modelling and simulation techniques for the evolving power system landscape.
