Presentation title: Real-Time Simulation–Based Impedance Identification of Grid-Forming Inverters Considering Frequency Cross-Coupling Effects

Presentation topic: As grid-forming inverters become essential for maintaining stability in modern power systems, accurately assessing their dynamic behavior is increasingly important. This presentation explores a real-time simulation approach for impedance identification of grid-forming inverters, capturing nonlinear effects such as droop control and interlock time. Using FPGA-based simulation on an OPAL-RT platform, the method enables accurate modeling and early-stage stability analysis while preserving control algorithm intellectual property.

Robin (Strunk) Siebe  received the B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in electrical engineering from RWTH Aachen University, Aachen, Germany, in 2016 and 2019, respectively. Since 2019 he has been working toward the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering with the  institute for Drive Systems and Power Electronics at Leibniz University Hannover, Hanover, Germany. In 2025, he joined OPAL-RT Germany GmbH as an R&D engineer. His research interests include grid connected converters, hardware-in-the-loop simuation and small-signal stability.
