OPAL-RT is joining CIGRE New Zealand for its Summer Workshops series. Focusing on EMT applications for the CIGRE B4 and B5 communities, this workshop offers direct interaction with our experts and live demos using real IEDs and real-time EMT emulation tools with the OPAL-RT system at the University of Auckland.
This session is presented in a hybrid format, with the afternoon’s demos available exclusively for in-person attendees.

Zerui Dong

Zerui Dong has been at OPAL-RT for seven years as a Power Electronics Simulation Specialist, having received both his master’s degree and PhD at Auburn University, His research interests lie in real-time simulation, pumped-storage hydropower, and renewable energy systems.

Parth Patel

Technical Demo Analyst

Parth Patel

Parth Patel received is master’s degree in electrical engineering at Concordia University. Since 2024, he has played a key role in operating live demonstrations at OPAL-RT’s event booths and workshops.

Chris Genganantha

Sales Director – Australia & New Zealand

Chris Genganantha

Chris Genganantha has been with OPAL-RT for more than a decade and serves as the Australia and New Zealand Sales Director. He works closely with the region’s utilities, system operators, OEMs, and universities to support the adoption of real-time simulation, HIL, and EMT-based studies for modern power systems.

Nirmal Nair is a Professor of Electrical, Computer, and Software Engineering at the University of Auckland. An IEEE Fellow and a CIGRE Distinguished Member, Nirmal is involved in the IEEE New Zealand North Section, IEEE Power and Energy Society and CIGRE New Zealand National Committee

Dr. Krishna Kumar

Dr. Krishna Kumar (SMIEEE) is a Research Fellow in Electrical, Computer, and Software Engineering at the University of Auckland. He holds over 13 years of experience in academia, industry, and research institutions across India, Singapore, Sweden, and New Zealand.
