Major RT-LAB versions are released twice a year in January and July.
They are named by the calendar year followed by “.1” for the January release or “.2” for the July release.
Minor versions can be released between major versions.
Starting with version 2024.1, each major RT-LAB release will support the last 6 MATLAB/Simulink releases available at launch date. This covers 3 years of MATLAB/Simulink releases.
OPAL-RT toolboxes ARTEMiS, eHS, ePHASORSIM and MMC and libraries will also support the last 6 MATLAB/Simulink releases at the same time. The only exception is RT-XSG which also depends on Vivado® software from Xilinx.
Older versions of MATLAB/Simulink will be entirely removed from the last major release of RT-LAB.
Note: MATLAB/Simulink R2015b, the last version supporting 32-bit functionalities, will be maintained until the end of 2023 for RT-LAB only, not for toolboxes.
Technical support will only be provided for officially supported releases.
Users of older RT-LAB versions will still receive support for officially supported MATLAB/Simulink versions at that time.
To reach the goals of our new RT-LAB Release Schedule and MATLAB/Simulink Compatibility policy, we will gradually cease MATLAB/Simulink version compatibility and support starting with the January 2023.1 RT-LAB release until release 2024.1 in January 2024. Here are the detailed supported MATLAB/Simulink versions.
This policy is for better transparency toward our customers and to provide them more predictability. This will enable our customers to plan how and when to evaluate, test, and install new releases.
By supporting 3 years of MATLAB/Simulink releases compatibility, we cover the needs of the vast majority of our customers while keeping great backward compatibility for everyone.
Supporting fewer MATLAB/Simulink versions in each major RT-LAB release means that our dedicated team will have more time to provide our customers better software and more of the new features requested.
