HYPERSIM 2026.1 released: Standardizing controller integration and advancing grid modeling workflows

OPAL-RT has released HYPERSIM 2026.1, introducing new capabilities that simplify OEM controller integration, enhance grid modeling accuracy, and improve real-time simulation usability.
This release adds support for the CIGRE B4.82 interface, enabling standardized integration of proprietary “black-box” controllers directly into real-time simulations. This approach reduces integration effort, improves reproducibility, and supports consistent validation of HVDC and FACTS control systems across projects.
HYPERSIM 2026.1 also expands ePHASORSIM modeling capabilities with new components for Dynamic Load behavior, Controllable Current Source, and PV-bus Voltage Source, enabling more realistic simulation of inverter-based resources, voltage-controlled devices, and modern grid dynamics. Additional updates include a ready-to-use IEEE 57-bus reference model with real-time benchmarks, improved dashboard responsiveness and stability, and a deprecation notice for the legacy FMUCreator workflow to prepare users for upcoming integration enhancements.
