RT20 | Power Grid Simulation and Impedance Spectroscopy

For safe and stable operation of a complex power grids (Renewable Energy Grid, aircraft or marine Power Distribution System) knowing the impedance behavior over a wide frequency range of the power generation system and its network nodes is mission critical.

In our session, a PHIL emulation of a complex power grid based on OPAL-RT eHs and EGSTON power amplifiers is presented. With a second PHIL setup we measure impedance plots of the PHIL power grid emulation from DC up to 20kHz. The PHIL impedance emulation and measured impedance plots will be compared.
