This presentation shows challenges and requirements of testing DC systems in scaled laboratory environments with the focus of Power-Hardware-in-the-Loop (PHIL) testing.
A Modular Multilevel Converter (MMC) implementation will be used as an example, with the PHIL test of Commutation Cells (CCs). Among that, the need for system reduction and scaling, and the principles of scaling output responses and time in the state space, will be presented.
