Video
2021-09-16

The presentation will describe an outdoor microgrid that is built as a testbed in a harsh desert environment where the temperature can reach up to 52 degrees Celsius. The microgrid comprises various types of solar panels with a total capacity of 100 kW, 30 kW Microturbine, 65 kW Microturbine, 20 kW Diesel Generator, artificial loads and battery energy storage. All these Microgrid components are monitored and controlled by a central microgrid controller. This microgrid is connected to a low voltage network which has a 250 kW PV and 250 kW/500 kWh battery energy storage. The works on modelling and simulation of this microgrid in RT-LAB will be described. The results of real-time simulation with an OPAL-RT on a few operation scenarios will be presented. Future works on the power in the loop simulations setup and digital twin will be also shared.
