RT21 | Parallel Operated VSC and LCC Schemes - HIL Study

The presentation describes tasks done prior to the interaction studies. A specific interface has been developed between the simulator and the MMC controls in collaboration with the HVDC vendor. Validation process of the Eleclink HIL setup is presented. Connecting two HVDC C&P replicas from two vendors is a challenge that is discussed in the presentation: gathering data and models of two different technologies, merging IO (Input/Output) signals, decoupling solution of systems tightly connected. Finally, a test matrix with several parallel operation scenarios has been defined in collaboration with all stakeholders of the project. Main outcomes of this study are presented: some cases present degraded performances of the HVDC systems. The HIL setup enables to re-risk the future operation and the commissioning phase.
