Presentation, Hardware-In-the-Loop (HIL), Power Systems
2024-09-19

This presentation provides an in-depth overview of key aspects of the National Interconnected Electrical System (SIN), starting with its operational statistics and the mission of ONS. It highlights the application of real-time simulation facilities for addressing challenges in grid equivalent modeling, and explores the motivation behind the development of co-simulation techniques. The discussion covers the integration of a heterogeneous hardware/software platform, showcasing preliminary developments by ONS in partnership with Opal-RT and RWTH Aachen University. Specific case studies, such as the operational evaluation of the SIN equivalent model and the application of the IEEE 39 bus system, are examined using DPL-based interfaces and UCM models in Hypersim. The presentation concludes with insights into geographically distributed co-simulation, featuring integration between SSCC-ONS and LAFAE-UFRJ real-time installations.
