RT24 UK | Development of a Facility For Mw-Scale Electrical Testing, Incorporating PHIL Technologies

PNDC is completing a facility for MW-scale testing of machines, drive components, and systems for transport applications, with a focus on heavy-duty vehicles, off-highway, and aerospace sectors. The facility includes AC and DC power supplies, dynamometers, and employs PHiL techniques to emulate electrical and mechanical system components. The presentation will provide an overview of the facility’s equipment, interconnection, and design influenced by various use cases. It will also highlight hydrogen fuel cell testing for heavy goods vehicles, using OPAL-RT hardware to simulate real-time vehicle models and controllers, with results compared across different drive cycles and conventional testing methods.
