RT24 UK | MTDC Grid Reconfiguration Sequential Control Principles and First Applications

In Multi-Terminal Multi-Vendor DC Grid (MV-MTDC) applications, the Coordinated DC Grid Controller (DCGC) manages power flow, operational modes, and grid reconfiguration using sequential control based on Discrete Event System theory. This approach enables local supervision of elements like transmission units and DC bus couplers, global supervision for grid-level interlocks, and high-level reconfiguration sequences such as startup and shutdown. A test case demonstrates the DCGC's sequential control during a DC line connection, ensuring coordinated operation of DC switching units. Implemented in a Hypersim simulation environment, the results confirm expected behaviors during a startup sequence in an MTDC grid.
