RT24 India | Power Hardware In the Loop Emulation of PMSM

Power hardware in loop emulation : To make sure the electric drivetrain is reliable, performs well, and is of good quality, it needs a lot of testing in the lab. The old ways of testing may be expensive and limiting. When compared to the electrical machine, the drive system can be tested much more quickly during the design and development phases. A power converter-based simulation system can be used to test and fine-tune the performance of the drive system. The general name for this system is the power hardware-in-loop (PHIL) simulation. The simulation system can be made to behave like an electrical machine with the help of a dynamic machine model. The digitized version of the machine model is implemented on a digital controller. With the help of motor model-based PHIL emulation, various types of motors with different ratings can be tested, and the operational and control aspects of the drive can be optimized prior to the physical prototype development, thereby notably decreasing time to market. PMSM emulation: The PMSM model, which is known as voltage in current-out models, uses voltage as inputs and current drawn as outputs for real-time implementation. The PMSM model uses the instantaneous test drive voltages as inputs to create the current reference for the emulator controller. To prevent control conflicts and stability problems, the emulator controller band width is chosen to be greater than the test drive inverter current controller band width. Analysis will be done on the design and construction of a PHIL emulation system for a PMSM in normal operating conditions. In order to fully analyze the PHIL emulation system, specific drive and machine failure situations will also be covered.
