Digital twin of innovative MVDC system for breakthrough linear photovoltaic power plants

SuperGrid Institute, in collaboration with OPAL-RT TECHNOLOGIES, successfully developed an advanced digital twin of a medium-voltage direct current (MVDC) demonstrator for linear photovoltaic power plants, addressing critical challenges in modern Power System Transmission. By combining Hardware and Software in a sophisticated Test Bench, the project leveraged Hardware-In-the-Loop (HIL) and Software-In-the-Loop (SIL) simulations to validate innovative control strategies, optimize converters, and integrate multiple communication protocols for seamless system operation. This cutting-edge approach enabled accurate real-time modeling, streamlined validation of complex controllers, and set a new standard for scalable renewable energy integration through robust software and hardware co-simulation.
