RT25 | Integrated Transmission and Distribution Testbed for Seamless Renewable Energy Penetration

Moazzam Nazir from Clemson University presents the DOE-funded Integrated T&D Testbed project advancing renewable energy integration through real-time HIL simulation. The initiative enhances T&D interaction modeling, grid-forming converter validation, and operator training. Using OPAL-RT systems, the testbed supports grid-connected and islanded modes, enabling accurate renewable testing and large-scale EMT-based system optimization.
