Olivier Tremblay and the Hydro-Québec IREQ team present SimP, a world-leading 7.5 MVA, 25 kV Power Hardware-in-the-Loop (PHIL) platform enabling megawatt-scale renewable integration studies. Built on OPAL-RT’s HYPERSIM, the system allows closed-loop EMT simulation, high-bandwidth converter testing, and grid validation across generation, transmission, and distribution, advancing DER adoption and smart grid resilience research.
