Independent Power Control of Three-Level Inverter for Dual-DC-Sources with Common Negative Bus

This paper presents a power control strategy for a dual-input DC source using a three-level T-type inverter with a common negative bus. Traditional multi-source inverter systems typically require two-stage power conversion and employ Space Vector Pulse Width Modulation for power flow control, which is often complex and computationally intensive. To eliminate the complexity, a three-phase, threelevel dual-port inverter is proposed, allowing two independent DC sources to connect and enabling single-stage power conversion using a common negative bus. A Carrier-Based Pulse Width Modulation technique is adopted to simplify modulation and facilitate directional power regulation. The power-sharing ratio between two DC sources can be precisely adjusted through this method. The proposed concept is validated through both simulation and Hardware-in-the-Loop testing.
