In this webinar, Varun Bhombore, Sr. Manager, Commissioning & Controls at GridStor, joined François Berthelot, Head of Division – Energy – North America, and Lyes Ait-Oubelli, Electrical Modeling and Simulation Analyst, from OPAL-RT TECHNOLOGIES to explore how Hardware-In-the-Loop (HIL) and Power Hardware-In-the-Loop (PHIL) can support Power System validation across the data center gray space. The session examined grid code compliance, dynamic AI/GPU load profiles, UPS and backup power, BESS, IBR and PPC testing, protection, energy management, DCIM, solid-state transformers (SST), advanced power conversion, islanding, and grid recovery. A practical HYPERSIM demonstration showed how electrical and thermal assets can be coordinated and evaluated together under dynamic operating conditions, grid faults, and changing loads. The webinar also highlighted OPAL-RT real-time simulation technologies and hardware configurations, including HYPERSIM, RT-LAB, OP5033XG2, OP5025XG2, OP4810-IO, OP4610-IO, and OP4815-IO, as well as FPGA-based power electronics simulation approaches using eHS, HSCS, and MVSC to support fast, scalable testing of complex converter-based architectures before deployment.
