Powering the Next Generation: Real-Time HIL Simulation for Teaching and Research

The Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT) deployed three OP4200 and three OP4510 real-time simulators to establish a real-time simulation laboratory for teaching and research. By leveraging MATLAB/Simulink models on CPU cores and FPGA solvers, CPUT enables students and researchers to accelerate control development, test microgrids and power converters, and perform Rapid Control Prototyping (RCP) and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) verifications.
