Problem & Solution
[PMU Connection Tester 4.6+] Stuck At "Awaiting Configuration Frame" using IEEE Std C37.118.2-2011 standard

Problem

When using PMU Connection Tester version 4.6 or later along with the configuration IEEE Std C37.118.2-2011 standard upon connection to the C37.118 Slave on the OPAL-RT Simulation, it hangs waiting for a Configuration Frame.

Solution

Starting version 4.6 the tool PMU Connection Tester added these new features (support of CFG-3 configuration frame) :

  • GSF.PhasorProtocols: Updated IEEE C37.118 channel definitions for configuration frame 3 to properly encode / decode length prefixed strings.
  • GSF.PhasorProtocols: Updated IEEE C37.118 frame parser to accommodate configuration frame 3 operations.
  • GSF.PhasorProtocols: Fixed IEEE C37.118-2011 digital definition channel name serialization of configuration frame 3

OPAL-RT's C37.118 Slave does not support Configuration Frame 3 which is now used by default on PMU Connection Tester.

User has to select the Command "Send Config Frame 2" when initiating the connection to start receiving the data.
