[EXata CPS 8.1.3.0] Deactivate Node -> GOOSE Communication Still Working

Question:

Using EXata CPS 8.1.3.0, if I right-click on a node > Deactivate Node (s),

the GOOSE Communication is still working, even though I see the the red circle with a bar:

why?

Answer:

This is an issue specific to EXata CPS 8.1.3.0, it does not occur in EXata CPS 1.1. It has been reported to Keysight.

The way the mapping is implemented was reworked and now the golden triangles represent a mapping on both layer 2 and 3. Deactivating node only interrupts communication on layer 3, not on layer 2.

In other words, this issue is specific to GOOSE messages. For instance, if the communication used was TCP, then, when deactivating a node, the communication would be interrupted.

Workaround:

The workaround is to do a MODP > Flow Modification > Compress attack with 100% compression factor. That means all the incoming packets will be dropped.
