Cybersecurity readiness of the GHOST microgrid with SEL controller and HYPERSIM®

Cybersecurity readiness of the GHOST microgrid with SEL controller and HYPERSIM®

A physical microgrid controller, the SEL 3360 is connected over Ethernet to HYPERSIM® running the GHOST microgrid, a 695-node model based on the BANSHEE distribution network developed at MIT & NREL and comprised of three feeders with various Distributed Energy Resources (DERs).
Using a high-fidelity communication network emulator, EXata CPS, command and measurement signals between the controller and microgrid are subjected to cyberattacks causing unexpected behavior within the system.

Massively Accelerate PSCAD Models, including Manufacturer Real Code Controllers, with HYPERSIM®

Learn about the latest developments to further extend the capabilities of OPAL-RT’s PSCAD import functionality. Check out a demonstration of these new capabilities and dive into the workflow of the import and multi-target multi-rate co-simulation configuration. Witness just how much faster a simulation can run without compromising its accuracy.

IEC 61850 — including MMS — Substation Automation System with Real and Virtual IEDs in HYPERSIM®

IEC 61850 — including MMS — Substation Automation System with Real and Virtual IEDs in HYPERSIM®

The mass adoption of this international standard and increasingly advanced applications — developed in conjunction with our customers — drove us to completely redesign our implementation with the aim of improving performance and facilitating the creation of both I/O configuration and assignment of I/Os in the schematic. Witness through a demonstration how much easier it is to implement a Substation Automation System by importing an entire SCL file, and adding I/Os to the project — effectively closing the loop with a protection relay using swift and in-parallel reporting to a SCADA through MMS.

Impacts of very high penetration of PV generation in large T&D networks with ePHASOR

Impacts of very high penetration of PV generation in large T&D networks with ePHASOR

ePHASORSIM can help in phasor-domain, transient stability analysis of the future grid with large amount of PV. Very high penetration of the variable PV generation in the distribution system will not only impact the voltage and reverse power flow but also can be seen as impacting the frequency of the transmission network. Conversely in such integrated network, impact of the transmission fault can be visible in the distribution in terms of voltage changes at the substation and nearby buses.

Very fast, accurate and easy EMT simulations with EMTP

Very fast, accurate and easy EMT simulations with EMTP

EMTP® is the most complete and technically advanced software for simulation and analysis of power systems. It can be used for studying steady-state conditions, electromechanical transients and fast to very fast electromagnetic transients. It is known to be the fastest, the most accurate and the most numerically stable software in the industry.

EMTP® is the most complete and technically advanced software for simulation and analysis of power systems. EMTP® is the reference for the simulation of electromagnetic and electromechanical EMT transients. It is known to be the fastest, the most accurate and the most numerically stable time-domain software in the industry. Control systems and protections can be modelled in detail using the complete libraries of components. EMTP® has a powerful unbalanced multi-phase load-flow capable of solving very large scale transmission and distribution grids, cases with more than 300 000 buses can be solved by our EMT solver. EMTP® has the most user-friendly graphical interface and load-flow, steady-state and time-domain simulations using the same grid data and within the same environment. EMTP® is completely scriptable. EVERYTHING that can be done by hand can be automated by scripts!
