OPAL-RT TECHNOLOGIES Announces New Strategic Partnership with Imperix for the Acceleration of Power Electronics Innovation

OPAL-RT TECHNOLOGIES has partnered with Imperix, a Swiss company developing high-end control equipment and prototyping hardware, as their exclusive North and South American distributor. Together they have developed a fully compatible Power Electronics Hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) and Rapid control prototyping (RCP) test bench designed to foster the acceleration of innovation for R&D power electronic engineers.

This new Power Electronic Test Bench combines a state-of-the-art HIL simulator from OPAL-RT with Imperix’s RCP and power hardware to provide quick and simple implementation and experimentation of power converter control techniques. It enables rapid development of power electronics and electric drive applications, providing both industrial and academic clients with a comprehensive range of solutions for laboratory test and prototyping equipment.

“Over the last decade we have seen this industry adopting HIL and RCP to its full capabilities.  Nevertheless, test benches will continue to be a requirement for efficient validation of power electronics applications because of its quick and precise results as well as its simple implementation).  Imperix will help expand and complete OPAL-RT’s real-time simulation offering by providing a turnkey solution adapted to power electronics converters. » said Jean Bélanger, CEO and CTO of OPAL-RT TECHNOLOGIES.

“By connecting OPAL-RT’s real-time simulator with our products such as the BoomBox, the user can easily switch between off-line simulation, cHIL real-time simulation and real hardware test, all on a single test bench,” said Nicolas Cherix Chief Scientist and co-founder of Imperix.  “This will save time and operating costs, as well as provide OPAL-RT users with thorough and complementary testing solutions for new algorithms, combining the digital simulation of the HIL application and its physical (hardware) validation” he added.
