[MONTREAL, December 11th 2020] OPAL-RT TECHNOLOGIES is pleased to announce the signing of a partnership with Bitlismen to install and operate as resellers and educators for the OP1420, OPAL-RT’s new Microgrid PHIL Test Bench, as an integrated demonstration, training aid and sales unit for their installed base of users. Bitlismen offers both educational and industrial products and solutions, as well as engineering services such as software design and programming, user hardware interface design and production.

Bitlismen’s mission is to provide educational resources to help foster learning in new microgrid concepts. OPAL-RT and Bitlismen have jointly made official their combined solution to provide a richer and more extensive experience for both students and researchers. Using Bitslismen’s learning hardware labs, such as the Power Labs Ecosystem, the solar and wind power system and more, the student can become familiar with power generators, microgrids and renewable concepts, and can now choose to broaden and enrich their research by combining it with the OP1420 Real-Time Microgrid PHIL Test Bench.

“Bitlismen has shown bold vision and leadership in its choice,” said Pierre-François Allaire, OPAL-RT Sales and Marketing Director. “Investing in a power electronics and power system lab is a significant investment for universities. Showing the capabilities of PHIL through an integrated lab–and having a lab which can be extended to Graduate and Post-Graduate level research by combining it with the uGrid test bench, is a great way to show continuity throughout the student/researcher curriculum.”

“We’re thrilled to be working with OPAL-RT,” said Ashot Minasyan, Bitlismen Chief Technology Officer. ”With the combination of the OP1420 Microgrid PHIL Test Bench together with our Power Labs Ecosystem trainers, we can provide to our end users limitless platforms, which will incorporate both real physical systems integrated with simulated ones, where real power will flow through the entire physical and digital grid.”

“We are proud to be a part, through Bitlismen, of the international effort to move power systems in the direction of further DER integration safely and efficiently,” said Jean Bélanger, CEO/CTO of OPAL-RT TECHNOLOGIES. “These test benches ultimately perform many times more tests in less time, with the goal of increasing grid resiliency and facilitating the integration of renewable energies. OPAL-RT’s simulators are highly configurable and scalable, and we look forward to the Bitlismen partnership as proof that our evolving hydrid 21st century installations remain cutting-edge in this time of accelerated change.”

ABOUT BITLISMEN
Bitlismen started in 2004 with a group of engineers involved in the building and outfitting of a hydro power plant in Armenia. As a training and hardware integration solutions provider, they provide training/research stations, and as a National Instruments Silver Level Alliance partner, they integrate their installations seamlessly within the NI universe. Specifically, Bitlismen offers Power Labs Ecosystem academic and research platforms in the field of Power Systems, which includes traditional and renewable power generation, transmission, distrubution, protection, microgrids, hybrid grids and smart grids.

Their expertise with medium voltage transmission lines, power distribution substation, and consumption patterns have made them a sought-after partner for DER integration as the 21st century hybrid grid evolves. They deploy strong theoretical and practical background knowledge in both traditional and renewable energy grids from the point of generation up to distribution/protection, and have worked intensively on installations in Singapore, Vietnam, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Pakistan, Russia, Armenia, and Chilli among other locations.
